Company Overview
Established in 1938 as part of the Rural Electrification Administration's initiative, Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative (MEC) has been a pivotal force in bringing electricity to rural America. With over 80 years of experience, MEC serves more than 31,000 accounts in nine Southside Virginia counties and five northern North Carolina counties. The cooperative is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and affordable electric service while actively supporting the communities within its service territory. As a Touchstone Energy Cooperative headquartered in Chase City, Virginia, MEC collaborates closely with line workers and engages in a range of projects to ensure the delivery of environmentally responsible power to its member-owners.
