"Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative (CCEC), founded on August 2, 1940, is a not-for-profit electric cooperative based in eastern North Carolina, near the town of Newport. Serving over 44,000 meters across Carteret, Craven, Jones, and Onslow counties, CCEC provides power to a diverse range of consumers, including families, retirees, military personnel at nearby bases, and summer visitors. The cooperative operates with an average density of 16.5 meters per mile of line, encompassing 63 miles of transmission line, 1,205 miles of overhead line, and 1,216 miles of underground line.
As part of the cooperative business model, CCEC is committed to serving its members rather than maximizing profits. The cooperative is guided by core values such as integrity, accountability, innovation, and a commitment to community. Linemen working for CCEC need to understand the cooperative's cooperative principles, emphasizing member ownership and control. Additionally, being part of Touchstone Energy, CCEC aligns itself with a nationwide family of co-ops sharing these fundamental values in their approach to providing reliable and affordable electricity to their communities."
