 WATER UTILITY ENGINEER - WINDHAM WATER WORKS

Windham Water Works seeks qualified applicants for the position of Water Utility Engineer.

Under the direction of the Water Superintendent, the Utility Engineer performs highly responsible and technically skilled work in support of the Utility’s public water infrastructure. This role combines engineering expertise, project management, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe, reliable service delivery. Key duties include planning, designing, and overseeing construction projects, supporting capital improvements, system modeling, asset management, and emergency preparedness. The Utility Engineer will also collaborate and assist other divisions as needed, performing both engineering and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of local, state, and federal utility regulations, proficiency with various software systems, and the ability to maintain records, maps, and documentation. The Utility Engineer must be highly organized, capable of investigating and resolving complex issues, and be able to communicate effectively across departments and agencies within various mediums.

Requirements

Qualifications for the position include:

PE Licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut, required.

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related field.

  5-8 years of working knowledge in water system engineering and/or construction experience, preferred.

Experience with AutoCAD, GIS Systems, and Hydraulic Modeling Software.

E.I.T. certification and pursuing PE licensing may be accepted depending on experience.

Preference may be given for additional certifications, college course credits in utility engineering, and/or water & wastewater system-related experience.

Must possess and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, required.

Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.

This is a full-time exempt position (40 hrs/wk); Salary $127,990.
